Collection Methods. Ziften uses common information-gathering tools, such as cookies and web beacons, to collect various information as Users navigate the Website. Below is a list describing methods by which Ziften may collect and use User Information.
- Web Beacons and Cookies. Ziften uses web beacons, alone or in conjunction with cookies, to collect Usage Information regarding Users’ interaction with emails they receive from Ziften and to provide basic website functionality and usage information. A web beacon is an electronic object embedded in a web page or email that can recognize certain types of information on a User’s computer, such as the time and date of a page viewed, and a description of where the web beacon is placed. For example, web beacons that Ziften places in outbound marketing emails will notify Ziften when the recipients open an email or navigate to the Website by clicking a link located within in the email. Ziften typically uses web beacons to assist operation of the Website and improve Ziften’s email communications. Users may be able to disable web beacons in email messages by not downloading external objects contained in the message they receive (this feature varies depending on the email software used on the User’s personal computer). However, doing this may not always disable a web beacon or other automatic data collection tools in the email message due to specific email software capabilities. A web cookie is a small piece of data sent from a website and stored on the User’s system by their web browser so that the website can maintain the context of User interactions. Users may disable or delete cookies by settings within their browser (refer to “cookie” in your browser Help). For more information about this, please refer to the information provided by your email or browser software or service provider.
User Management. Users have options for controlling how Ziften is allowed to use certain information. Users may manage their receipt of marketing and non-transactional communications by clicking the “unsubscribe” link located on the bottom of Ziften emails. Additionally, a User may email communication preferences to firstname.lastname@example.org. Registered Users cannot opt out of receiving transactional emails related to their active Website accounts.
Data Subject Rights. Users have rights to access, correct, erase or otherwise control the collection and processing of their User information. If at any time a User wishes to revise any information Ziften maintains about the User, or otherwise change or discontinue the use to which such information can be put, the User should contact Ziften’s Data Protection Officer at: DPO@ziften.com.
Data Security. Ziften employs security measures to prevent unauthorized access to information Ziften collects online. The Website supports Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology using both server authentication and data encryption. The Website also employs an advanced security method based on dynamic data and encoded session identifications, and is hosted in a secure server environment that uses firewalls and other security technologies.
